69th Annual Day of Prayer--May 7, 2020

“Pray God’s Glory Across the Earth”
(Habakkuk 2:14)

What: On Thursday, May 7, 2020 in Oshkosh and communities across America, millions will unite at noon for the 69th Annual National Day of Prayer, to pray for our local, state & national leaders; public officials; schools & school leaders; military; and our nation. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, this year we will not be having a local event but will be observing our National Day of Prayer Event in Washington DC. On TV or the Internet at 7-9pm. (Central Time)

Where: The US National Observance on: God TV; Day Star TV; or on line at: www.nationaldayofprayer.org (Face book Live Link) also Moody & Bott Radio.

When: At 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. (Central Time) Thursday May 7th 2020.

Why: The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988, the law was unanimously amended by both the House and the Senate and signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on Thursday, May 5, 1988, designating the first Thursday of May as a day of national prayer. Every president since 1952 has signed a National Day of Prayer proclamation.

Prayer brings people together. Prayer builds bridges between opposing persons and even political parties. Prayer reminds us that we are created in God's image and He desires for us to represent Him everywhere we go. Prayer brings UNITY. In 2020, our theme will be “Pray God’s Glory Across The Earth”, based upon Habakkuk 2:14 "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea”. Especially this election year we are challenged to mobilize public prayer for America and the world.

Each year more than 35,000 prayer gatherings are usually conducted by approximately 40,000 volunteers across this country. We would like to encourage all citizens to exercise their First Amendment right to pray and worship in public as well as private, by observing this annual National Day of Prayer here in Oshkosh by watching our National Event on TV or on Line.
