Getting Involved

There are many opportunities to connect and become an active part of the Wesley Church family. Here are just a few groups that you may be interested in learning about:

Communion Visitation Ministry

This ministry is a small group opportunity to take Holy Communion to our members in nursing homes or those unable to attend worship at church. This activity is open to who may be interested in taking part in this special visitation. Training will be provided for interested persons. Please contact the church office (for more information.

Food Pantry

Wesley participates in supportiing the Oshkosh Area Community Pantry located on 2551 Jackson Street, Oshkosh (920-651-9960). Volunteers from Wesley work on Tuesdays by sorting and distributing food. Congregants also collect canned goods at Wesley for delivery t the food pantry. Another area to get involved in is the Day By Day Warming Shelter, Inc. It is located at 449 High Avenue, Oshkosh, WI 54901, phone number is (920) 203-4865. The members of Wesley UMC donate funds, items, and volunteer time and services at the shelter. If you are interested in any of the above service opportunities, you may contact the Church Office by calling (920) 235-3070 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 12  noon. The Church Office is closed on Wednesdays.

Happy Elders

Organized for Wesley members and friends ages 55 and older, the primary purpose is to provide times of fellowship and social activities a few times a year for those of us in our ‘golden years.’ It is blessed with an endowment from a former Happy Elder that provides funding for various activities. Some past excursions include visiting Rawhide Boys Ranch, a day trip bus tour of Door County with a few stops along the way, a boat trip through the Upper Dells, Christmas productions at Calvary Bible Church, and various musical/theater events.

Men’s Group

This informal gathering of Wesley members and friends does not have a set schedule of meetings at this time, but joins together for special projects and social events. Some recent ventures include preparing and serving church breakfasts, fundraising to provide youth camp scholarships and golf outings. As membership grows and mutual interests develop, opportunities for a diverse range of activities abound. With no formal structure in leadership, any member is encouraged to propose and/or organize an activity for the group at a time most convenient for him.
